Participants will gain hands-on experience with the Military Decision Making Process, (MDMP), including the development, weighting, and selection of Courses of Action (COAs). Emphasis is placed on the planning, creation, and briefing of operations orders, with guidance on organizing and controlling command systems. Through practical exercises and instruction aligned with U.S. Army manuals, this course will also cover the roles and responsibilities of Commanders in coordinating with staff to execute effective tactics and procedures.

STANDARD COURSE OPTION:
FIVE DAY Course:
Course consists of understanding the roles and responsibilities of the staff sections, the military decision making process (MDMP), the creation of orders and the understanding of the manuals that support order creation and where to gain information to fulfill staff responsibilities. The class will then go through MDMP, conduct a course of action decision, conduct a briefback, finalize the order and publish the completed order. If requested, individuals will brief the order from a terrain model with different portions of the staff briefing their sections of the order in front of the class. The endstate is that all participants will understand the battle staff process and the methods of creating orders and the responsibilities of each section.
